Last night, whilst at dinner at the very tasty restaurant 'ABC Kitchen' we overheard a few of our American friends talking about the phenomenon of www.stuffwhitepeoplelike.com . Of course the following day we couldn’t resist visiting the website….and after many laughs we are very happy to recommend it to you for some great insight onto what makes White People of the Planet Earth so unique..

Here’s an excerpt:

So…in time for Angelina Jolie’s movie Salt there has been lots of espionage drama happening. Let’s examine the two occurrences that really show us that the Hollywood movie script writers have a better grip on good spies, then their real life compatriots. (Unless all this is actually one giant marketing campaign for the movie)

First thing to mention: 11 Russian spies caught in America. And I quote The Financial Times no less when I say that this story is ‘like a spy novel from 50 years ago, with 21st century computer problems.’ It’s pretty embarrassing for poor mother Russia. I don’t think Agent Salt would allow something like this to happen. But fair enough, it’s Russia, we drink too much, it’s o.k, its normal.

What is more interesting is the news that it turns out that since 2007 our dear friend Osama Bin Laden has been dead. Very dead, from a pancreas disease. And yet he remained on American Most Wanted list for three years thereafter. Of course there is a version that American Intelligence knew that he was dead all along, but maintained that he is alive for their propaganda reasons. May be so, but imagine if not?

So where does that leave us? Probably at the fact that the all the good spies these days work in Hollywood, writing scripts, because that is where the money is. That’s capitalism for you.

WITNESS: All of them. The live ones put up too much of a fight.

ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 PM.
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: If not, he was by the time I finished.

ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS: Are you qualified to ask that question?

And last:
ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

Man admits having sex with 1,000 cars

Edward Smith, who lives with his current "girlfriend" – a white Volkswagen Beetle named Vanilla, insisted that he was not "sick" and had no desire to change his ways.

"I appreciate beauty and I go a little bit beyond appreciating the beauty of a car only to the point of what I feel is an expression of love," he said.

"Maybe I'm a little bit off the wall but when I see movies like Herbie and Knight Rider, where cars become loveable, huggable characters it's just wonderful.

"I'm a romantic. I write poetry about cars, I sing to them and talk to them just like a girlfriend. I know what's in my heart and I have no desire to change."

He added: "I'm not sick and I don't want to hurt anyone, cars are just my preference."

Mr Smith, 57, first had sex with a car at the age of 15, and claims he has never been attracted to women or men.

But his wandering eye has spread beyond cars to other vehicles. He says that his most intense sexual experience was "making love" to the helicopter from 1980s TV hit Airwolf.

As well as Vanilla, he regularly spends time with his other vehicles – a 1973 Opal GT, named Cinnamon, and 1993 Ford Ranger Splash, named Ginger.

Before Vanilla, he had a five-year relationship with Victoria, a 1969 VW Beetle he bought from a family of Jehovah's Witnesses.

But he confesses that many of the cars he has had sex with have belonged to strangers or car showrooms.

His last relationship with a woman was 12 years ago - and he could not bring himself to consummate it, although he did have sex with girls in his younger days.

Mr Smith, from Washington state in the US, kept quiet about his secret fetish for years, but agreed to be interviewed as part of a channel Five documentary into “mechaphilia”. He is shown meeting other enthusiasts at a rally in California

Talking about how his unusual passion developed, Mr Smith said: "It's something that grew as a part of me when I was a kid and I could not shake it.

"I just loved cute cars right from the beginning, but over the years it got stronger once I got into my teenage years and was my first having sexual urges.

"When I turned 13 and the famous Corvette Stingray came about, that car was pure sex and just an incredible machine. I wanted it.

"I didn't fully understand it myself except that I know I'm not hurting anyone and I do not intend to."

He added: "There are moments way out in the middle of nowhere when I see a little car parked and I swear it needs loving.

"There have been certain cars that attracted me and I would wait until night time, creep up to them and just hug and kiss them.

"As far as women go, they never really interested me much. And I'm not gay.”

Mr Smith is now part of a global community of more than 500 “car lovers” brought together by internet forums.

So it seems like the fuss has died down and nobody is excited about Chatroulette anymore.

We agree that at most part it has become something not very excitement encouraging- Unless Middle aged men holding their penises is something that gets to you? We don’t judge.

But there are those few occasional stories from Chatroulette that are nothing short of exceptional:

Here are two of ours:

The other day sitting on chatroulette with some friends we saw a little boy, very cute, and aged no more then 6, reaching up on his toes to see the computer screen. It was a slightly disturbing sight given that both ‘randoms’ before and after him were the aforementioned middle aged men, and we clicked him off immediately. 20 people later we ran into the little boy again, looking just as confused. Holding still for a second I had every intention to tell him that he should go watch some cartoons, instead of ‘this’, but before I managed to type all that up I had a message from him. It said “mom? Is that you?’.

Another story which is less or more disturbing depending on the way you look at it, also happened few days ago. Suddenly on the screen in front of us there was a chicken walking around. Yes, a live and happy chicken. It took us a few minutes to realize that next to the chicken lay a snake. A confusing sight was made clear by the message that popped up on the screen a second later ‘Show me your boobs or the chicken dies!’.

(If you must know what happened next, my computer flew all the way to the other side of the room. I would never want my conscience to be responsible for the death of an innocent Chicken).

An Armory Contest!

Yesterday afternoon we went to the Armory showcase in New York. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it’s a very large art fair of galleries from around the world. It is both a sale and a cultural event of massive proportions. (The number of galleries showcased are in the hundreds!). Obviously arriving there our eyes rummaged in all directions, but luckily we had two very experienced characters with us who pointed us in all the right directions. One is a Trustee of DIA foundation (google it!) and the other an important employee of Sotheby’s in London. Here are a few works that got our attention!

And here’s the best part!

The armory is open until Sunday. Whoever goes there and is able to come back to us with the 2 of the following four points:

-booth number

-name of artist

-gallery its represented by

-name of work

For at least 3 of these five works gets the following:

1) A very cool book from Assouline Publishers

2) A very very cool tee-shirt from one of the brands of Luxcartel Showroom

3) A very very very cool trip to Dia Beacon, transportation and tour provided by US!

A few of our friends have asked us to clarify why we named our blog Ikons? Were we going to talk about a different fashion and entertainment ikon every day of the week? Were we promoting Russian Orthodoxy on the internet?....basically wassup with the name dude?...

So here is an answer for your guys satisfaction:

No, we are not planning to describe the greatness of Audrey Hepburn, Michael Jackson, and Alexander the Great on this site. I mean not to say we don’t think they are great, but there is Wikipedia available if anyone is truly interested as to why those guys were so special.

While we are great fans of Jesus and big supporters of Russian art, no this blog is not meant to have anything to do with our ancient and dear art form.

This blog in all its glory is meant to be the representation of the marvelous world of Attention Deficit Disorder where we live today. Ikons as we see them are all those little buttons you can press on your computer to open up ten different documents at the same time and have a huge influx of irrelevant (or sometimes relevant) information. This blog is our buttons. Its our ADD.

We truly wish that whenever anyone visits this blog they leave with a satisfied feeling of lightness, a sparked interest, and hopefully a smile.

In Brazil a powerful new technology has been created to protect women from kidnappings... It's genius if you ask us...

'The ‘find me if you can’ range of underwear has been described as a modern-day, high-tech chastity belt.

Lingerie maker Lucia Lorio of Brazil says her design targets the ‘modern, techno-savvy woman’.

The lingerie combination set consists of lace bodice, bikini bottom and faux pearl collar, with the GPS device nestled in the see-through part of the bodice next to the waist.

Unconcerned with the controversy her collection has raised, Lorio is also dismissive of the global financial crisis and its adverse impact on luxury items sales.

The GPS lingerie sells from a cool £500, complete with a standard Global Positioning System, to £700 with a more advanced model.

‘Some women are now interested in buying it for protection,’ she said, programming it for partners themselves so they are safe on a night out alone.

Our favorite Christiane Amanpour just reported on her blog that even Mexican politicians think its a good idea to legalize marijuana in USA and Mexico!

And I quote:

'The United States and Mexico should both legalize marijuana in an attempt to break the power of the Mexican drug cartels and end the spiraling violence south of the border, Mexico’s former Foreign Minister said Tuesday.

Jorge Castaneda, in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, said, “It should be legalized in both countries”. He stated it was ridiculous for Mexico to try to stop marijuana from entering the U.S. when it’s legally sold for medical purposes in Los Angeles.

“The Drug Enforcement Administration says that 60 percent of the Mexican (drug) cartels’ profits come from marijuana. If we start with that, it’s a big chunk”, he added.

“We can’t do everything overnight.. and we can’t do it in Mexico if the U.S. doesn’t do it at the same time.”

Dear All,

On this beautiful Sunday Evening, while watching the Grammy's and eating illegal amount of pryaniki, my friend Katya and I (Tash) decided to start a blog. So here we are writing our first post. First we think its important to explain how this HIGHly Original idea came to be. Both Katya and I are Russians living in exile on a $7 island. We both work from nine to six each day.
